My Story – Why I Bake

Baking has always been more than just mixing flour and sugar—it’s been a way to connect, to celebrate, and to create lasting memories. One of my earliest (and funniest) baking memories is from a childhood birthday party. There’s a photo of my sister and me at the cake table—her face frozen in shock as I gleefully blow out the candles on her cake. That picture still makes us laugh today.

Growing up, birthdays were always marked with a homemade chocolate cake from our mum. It wasn’t fancy, but it was ours, and it tasted like love. The scent of warm cocoa and butter wafting through the house meant it was time to celebrate. That tradition stayed with me—so much so that I now bake a chocolate cake for my own kids on their birthdays. It’s my way of honoring those memories and passing them on.

What started as an attempt to recreate those sweet memories has turned into a full-blown passion for baking. Now, it’s more than just cakes—I bake everything from soft buns and zesty loaves to decadent layer cakes.
